Face shape is simply the relationship between four measurements: forehead width, cheekbone width, jaw width and total face length. Styling works when it balances whichever of those is dominant — adding height to a wide face, width to a long one, softness to a hard jaw. Here's the short version for every shape.
Face length is about 1.5× the width, with a forehead slightly wider than the jaw and a softly rounded chin.

Face the camera straight on in even daylight, tie hair back off the forehead and jaw, remove glasses, and keep a neutral expression. Those four things do more for accuracy than camera quality.
